Public Market

We welcome you in Tuesday to Saturday from 11am - 5pm & Sunday from 12 to 5pm.

The Stone Mill Public Market is a highly curated, engaging environment in downtown Middlebury, Vermont. Since opening in October, 2019, the market has become a daily destination for residents and visitors, offering a place to gather, shop, enjoy a coffee and purchase items ranging from wine and cheese, kitchen and home, to cards and gifts. The Market provides small businesses the opportunity to participate in the greater Middlebury retail market without the daily burden of managing labor and point of sale needs.

Outdoor seating is available weather permitting. The building is ADA accessible.

Our Current Market Partners Include

Dedalus Wine and Cheese

Dedalus started as a little backroom wine shop with a dozen or so selections. Just the stuff they wanted to drink but couldn’t find anywhere else. Over the years, the Burlington based company grew to become one of the best indie wine shops in the US. Now, we are lucky to have them in Middlebury! With accessible wines at affordable prices, Dedalus Wine brings expertise and fun to The Stone Mill Public Market. Most weeks there is a Dedalus team member onsite Friday, Saturday & Sunday to share ideas and support your shopping.

Check our events page and social media for updates on the wine tasting schedule.

Slate Home

Based in Burlington, Slate enjoys a lovely location on the pedestrian Church Street.

In addition to their space in the Public Market, Slate Home designed the four lodging units on the top floors of the Stone Mill. Their team is available to support your design projects too!

Vermont Eclectic

Founded in Woodstock, Vermont Eclectic Co. was born from the dual love of a great T-shirt and our incredible state. The company is a collaborative effort with a number of Vermont artists, each of whom has created unique and custom artwork that expresses their own passion for the Green Mountain State—the land, the people, the culture, the sense of humor—all of it.

Adult and kid shirts as well as tote bags and hats can be found in the Stone Mill, changing seasonally and always celebrating the very best of Vermont.

Lost Monarch

Matt and Aless met in 2011 in Bethel, CT at Matt’s second coffee shop job. Aless came in for open mic night, noticed the cute barista behind the bar, asked for his number, and… they have been inseparable ever since. Pretty early on, the two began mentioning the idea of opening a coffee shop. The conversation got serious in 2018, when Matt and Aless decided to start scouting locations for a shop. Middlebury was the obvious choice. This is their 2nd location, after Royal Oak Coffee. Downtown fans are thankful to have them nearby!

The Stone Mill Collection

A curated collection of the founders' favorites, here you will find things that Stacey Rainey and Mary Cullinane like to eat... help them think... and encourage celebration. From candy to cards, seeds to vases, bags to candles, each item has a story and they are excited to share! Also within the collection is a highlighted area demonstrating the entrepreneurial spirit of Middlebury College. With products brought to market by current and former students we honor the history of the Old Stone Mill.

The Kitchen

Recognizing in 2021, that our small town lacked a full fledged kitchen store, Stacey and Mary went about stocking a stall with the basics and fan favorites that make a great gift or replace a well loved, but ready to retire part of your home kitchen. Ranging from measuring spoons and cups to french presses and cocktail ingredients and tools, we offer an ever growing mix of goods to support your eating and drinking needs from breakfast to nightcap.

We welcome your ideas and input as we refine this newest component of The Stone Mill.
