LodgingFAQ

Are the bathrooms shared?

No shared bathrooms! All suites have their own private bathroom.

I don't see any availability for the dates I selected. Should I call just to be sure?

Honestly, no :) Our website reflects the most accurate view of our availability and we do not manage waiting lists. We suggest you try back again to see if anyone cancels as the site will be updated automatically.

How do I check in?

You will receive an email the day before your arrival with all the information you need to check-in. Please read the email :). You will be able to check in at any time after 4pm. Please make a note in your reservation stating your anticipated arrival time. If you would like us to be aware of your hope for an early check-in, you may note it there as well. If we can make that happen, we will, and then let you know via text.

I need a roll-away bed added to my room.

Sorry... no roll-aways. We have a permit for 10 people on the lodging floor. That's it. We have one room, The Mill Street Suite that has a sitting area and a pull-out couch. All other rooms have a queen size bed and only accommodate a maximum of 2 people.

Where do I park overnight?

You may park overnight along the Otter Creek in the spaces that say 2 hour parking, right next to the building. We ask that you move your car during the day to the lot down the road a little bit, on the left hand side. This way you avoid a parking ticket and customers coming to the Public Market and Restaurant can have access to those spaces.

Can I cook a meal in the shared kitchen?

You can do a lot of great things in the shared kitchenette! You can chill your wine, make yourself a cup of coffee or tea in the morning, toast... something :). You can't, however, cook a meal. There isn't a microwave or oven. We are trying to be sensitive to the wonderful aromas that are created when cooking, as not everyone may find them wonderful.

What's open in Middlebury when I arrive?

That's a great question! It depends.... Your best bet is to search on restaurants or cafes in Middlebury VT and check the hours online. They are the most accurate. Between Covid, labor shortages in the service industry and the well known fact that this is Vermont and things spin a bit slower... hours are best discovered on directly on a restaurant's website.

I have the cutest puppy, can I bring it??

Ahhhh... a cute puppy! We love it! But it has to stay home. :( We do not permit any animals on the lodging floor.... even if they are really really cute.... Middlebury has 2 dog boarding places near by. You can check with Wag on Inn or Comfort Hill, both in Vergennes, to see what is available.

Check out day... what do I do?

Well, check out is 10 am.. so, pack up your things... make sure you didn't leave anything behind and then just leave... It will be hard. You will miss the comfy bed... but you can always come back! That's it, no need to do anything else. Well... you could tell everyone about your amazing stay!

Where should we eat?

Middlebury has some amazing dining options, representing food from all over the world. Sabai Sabai, Taste of India, Two Brothers Tavern, Jessica's, Haymaker Buns and American Flatbread just to name a few. Due to ongoing struggles with labor, we strongly suggest you check websites of restaurants or call ahead for hours.

We hear you have an amazing Coffee Shop inside the Stone Mill??

Ah, yes... we do! The Lost Monarch is on The Public Market floor. It is open Wednesday - Saturday, 11am - 5pm and Sunday, 12 noon to 5pm. If you want good coffee, this place will check that box! For your early morning fix, there is a coffee maker in the kitchen area of the rooms. Haymaker Buns and Otter Creek Bakery are also within walking distance of The Stone Mill. Check their website's for hours.
